El objetivo del presente trabajo es indagar sobre las representaciones del lugar de la mujer en las conformaciones familiares de principio de siglo XX en Argentina, recurriendo a dos fuentes diferentes pero complementarias: por un lado las publicaciones de la revista Caras y Caretas por ser la primera revista de masas en una sociedad que se complejizaba con la inmigración europea y las reivindicaciones en torno a los derechos políticos y económicos de la ciudadanía; y por otro lado la tesis doctoral de Elvira López, una de las primeras mujeres en ser admitidas en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, como fuente proveniente de la academia. Indagar sobre cuán complementarias o disímiles eran estas representaciones sobre el lugar de la mujer en la familia y en la sociedad, es la tarea que me propongo realizar.

Abstract 

The aim of this study is to investigate the representations of the place of women in family conformations of early twentieth century in Argentina, using two different but complementary sources: one, the  Caras & Caretas´ magazine, because it was the first mass magazine, in a society which  became complex because of massive European immigration and claims about the political and economic rights of citizenship; and secondly, the doctoral thesis of Elvira Lopez, one of the first woman to be admitted to the Buenos Aires University, as a source from the academy. Investigate how were these complementary or dissimilar representations about the place of women in family and society, it is the task that I propose to make.
