La acción de los actos de ver, de sus esperadas reflexiones sobre las imágenes que nos presentan la precariedad de existencias atadas a las prácticas de la violencia y el dolor que sacuden a las sociedades contemporáneas, exhiben la ausencia del sentido crítico que las mismas deberían generar. Este acriticismo es el arranque interpretativo, necesario, para comprender la obra del artista venezolano Juan Toro-Diez, quien por medio del dispositivo del entorpecer el ver, coloca en cuestionamiento el dominio de la mirada y de las pantallas que lo someten. El presente artículo pretende adentrase en las nociones de las imágenes de la violencia y el dolor, a través del trabajo de Toro-Diez titulado ‘…’ y las consecuencias que el mismo trajo para los actos del ver.

Abstract

The action of sighting events, of its expected reflections about the images that show up precariousness of existences tied to violence and pain practices which shake contemporary societies, exhibit the absence of the critical sense that they should generate. This uncritical state is the necessary interpretative take off to understand the works of Venezuelan artist Juan Toro-Diez, who by means of a vision hiding device, places question to the dominion of the gaze and the screens that subject it. This paper pretends to go deep into the notions of violence and pain images through the work of Toro-Diez entitled ‘…’ and the consequences it brought to the acts of seeing.
