Abstract

Viva Cuba is the portrait of two children and their journey towards an idea of freedom; the film is suggestive and reflects the political and social climate of Cuba, beautifully captured as a political allegory and through creative and intelligent shots that follow its story to convince a Father. Certainly, viewers can understand these children as an allegory of the Cuban people in their faith that there is still an opportunity for a better life and a better outcome than they currently have while they are torn between the rubble of the revolution, the economic anguish of the US embargo and the resulting political decline. This review explores what part of the underlying social commentary is found in the film's edition and the scenes through which the narrative is told.
