Este texto ha sido galardonado en la categoría Ensayo de los premios Caracol de la UNEAC 2018, Asociación de Cine, Radio y Televisión de Cuba.

El análisis de la filmografía de Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, sobre todo sus filmes de ficción, entre otros  Fresa y Chocolate, nos permite constatar  las cualidades distintivas y los valores éticos, temáticos y formales que han caracterizado la tradición cultural de Cuba,  en tanto su sentido ético y los valores estéticos de esa obra lo hacen merecedor de colocar su nombre en lugar cimero en la cultura cubana.

Abstract

The analysis of Tomás Gutiérrez Alea’s filmography, especially his fiction films, among others Strawberry and Chocolate, allows us to verify the distinctive qualities and the ethical, thematic and formal values that have characterized the cultural tradition of Cuba, while its ethical dimention and the aesthetic values of this work make it worthy to place his name in a top place in Cuban culture.
