Utilizando uma análise bibliográfica e documental em seus aspectos teóricos, históricos e conceituais, através de dados secundários e uma abordagem qualitativa, o trabalho aqui apresentado analisa a novela Salón de Belleza (1994), de Mario Bellatin, como uma obra engajada que se adequa aos moldes de engajamento previstos por Sartre no ensaio Qu’est-ce que la littérature (1948). O estudo aproxima a ideia de littérature engagée à definição de contemporaneidade de Giorgio Agamben (2006-2007). A análise visa a tratar das figuras queer “adoentadas” na novela; deste modo, coteja-se, através da literatura comparada, os constructos de literatura político/social. Partindo do pressuposto de que a escrita engajada seja uma parte central na obra, o objetivo do trabalho é ler a narrativa por meio dos aspectos do queer, colocando o livro de Bellatin como uma peça pertencente à ideia de literatura de marginalizados e excluídos, fazendo parte, então, da estética dos oprimidos.

Engagement and contemporaneity in Salón de Belleza

Abstract

Making use of a bibliographical and documentary analysis in its theoretical, historical and conceptual aspects, through secondary data and a qualitative approach, the work presented here analyzes the novel Salón de Belleza (1994), by Mario Bellatin, as an engaged work that is adapted to the models of engagement proposed by Sartre in the essay Qu’est-ce que la littérature (1948). The study connects the idea of littérature engagée (Sartre) and the definition of contemporaneity by Giorgio Agamben (2006-2007). The analysis addresses the queer “sick” figures in the novel; in this sense, throughout comparative literature, the articles approaches the constructions of political/social literature. Based on the assumption that engaged writing is a central part of this particular work, the aim of the article is to read the narrative through the aspects of the queer, placing Bellatin’s book as a piece belonging to the idea of literature of the marginalized and excluded, then, integral part of the aesthetics of the oppressed
