Abstract

The film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal (2008), directed by Steven Spielberg, has caused discomfort and indignation among Peruvian audience due to its multiple historical and geographical inaccuracies. In addition to cultural distortion, there is concern about the movie’s alleged cultural misappropriation, and the reinforcement of negative stereotypes that weight upon Amerindians and Hispanic Americans.
