Este articulo analiza la trayectoria de Nelson Rockefeller (integrante de la familia de magnates petroleros) desde el patrocinio de las artes latinoamericanas hasta su ascenso a la política internacional del gobierno norteamericano durante los años de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Interesado en el mundo del arte por influencia de su madre, Rockefeller promovió el arte latinoamericano como forma indirecta de mejorar las relaciones de las empresas familiares. Este modelo de gestión pasó, posteriormente, a la política cuando se hizo cargo de la Oficina de Asuntos Interamericanos.

Abstract

This article analyzes the trajectory of Nelson Rockefeller (member of the oil magnate’s family) from the sponsorship of the Latin American arts to his rise to the international politics of the North American government during the years of World War II.

Interested in the art world under the influence of his mother, Rockefeller promoted Latin American art as an indirect way to improve the relationships of family businesses. This management model later passed into politics when he took over the Office of Inter-American Affairs.
