Resumen

Se trata en este artículo de aclarar lo que pueda entenderse por felicidad, término utilizado con muy diversos matices: como deseo, como causa última de nuestras acciones humanas. También socialmente fue utilizado en diversos contextos: como liberación de la opresión, como posesión de riqueza y bienestar; y en distintas épocas históricas con diversas filosofías: la felicidad para los epicúreos no ha sido la felicidad promovida por los estoicos o los cristianos. En el siglo XXI, con el fracaso (manifestado en las guerras mundiales) de las promesas de la Modernidad (libertad, igualdad, progreso), se instaura en la Posmodernidad una expectativa de felicidad humana más modesta y privada.Palabras claves: deseo, felicidad, causa última, Posmodernidad

Abstract

This article is about clarifying what can be understand by happiness, a term used with very different nuances: as desire, as the ultimate cause of our human actions. It is used socially in various contexts: as liberation from oppression, as possession of wealth and well-being; and in different historical epochs with diverse philosophies: happiness for the epicureans has not been the happiness promoted by the stoics or the Christians. In the 21st century, with the failure (manifested in the world wars) of the promises of Modernity (freedom, equality, progress), a more modest and private expectation of human happiness is established in Postmodernity.
