Don Quijote de la Mancha, protagonista de la novela cervantina, y Neo, el personaje de la película The Matrix, comparten un universo que acerca al manchego a la posmodernidad y a la reflexión sobre el mundo y sus límites al saberse hecho simulacro.   Ante esta tensión sobre el significado de la realidad, ambos personajes optan por superar los límites del universo tal como lo han heredado en sus repectivos sistemas y proponer otros mundos posibles mediante el ejercicio de la fantasía, que supone para ambos la conversión en héroes cercanos a la figura del mago.

 

Abstract

Both Don Quixote, main character in the weell-known cervantine novel, and Neo, main chracter in The Matrix film, share a common point of view about life in which postmodernity values on challenging reality boundaries and the idea of simulacra are central concerns in their way of living. In that situation, both characters decide to surpass the established limits beyond their given ruling worlds in order to propose other different ways to understand reality. The way they use fantasy and imagination over that given reality make them to become not only heroes but also magicians.
