En nuestro trabajo examinamos la ascensión y caída jurídica del ahora ex juez español Baltasar Garzón en conjunto con la parodia dramática del también español Ernesto Caballero – La fiesta de los jueces –. En el año 2010 la pieza tuvo gran acogida en la escena madrileña debido a que, como un telón de fondo, reflejaba bufonamente los eventos que rodearon el melodramático enjuiciamiento público del renombrado juez por parte del Supremo español. A principios del presente año el alto tribunal encontró culpable a Garzón y le condenó a 11 años de inhabilitación judicial por cargos, según variadas opiniones, no del todo muy transparentes.

Abstract

In this work I examine the rise and fall of the now former Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón in conjunction with the dramatic parody of the Spanish playwright Ernesto Caballero, The Feast of the Judges. In 2010 the play was well received in the Madrid theater scene because it satirically reflected the melodramatic events surrounding the public prosecution of the renowned judge by the Spanish Supreme Court. Earlier this year the high court found Garzón guilty of corruption and sentenced him to 11 years of judicial disqualification, although there are some who disagree with the charges.
