Este estudio examina el surgimiento de las nuevas formas de representación de los hombres latinos gay en los Estados Unidos a partir del Teatro de lo fabuloso, así como la nueva conciencia de la homosexualidad que estas representaciones han creado en los sectores gay y heterosexuales, hispanos y anglosajones, de la sociedad estadounidense. A través de Men on the Verge of a His-Panic Breakdown de Guillermo Reyes se pretende también observar el proceso de rompimiento del Teatro de lo fabuloso con las formas teatrales de representación gay anteriores, los conflictos emergentes de esta doble subalternidad, y las constantes negociaciones derivadas del pertenecer a dos subculturas distintas y hasta cierto punto contrapuestas. 

Summary

This study examines the new forms of representation of gay Latino men in the United States that have emerged from the Theater of the Fabulous, as well as the new consciousness on homosexuality that these representations have created in the gay and heterosexual, Hispanic and Anglo-Saxon sectors of American society. Through Guillermo Reyes' play Men on the Verge of a His-Panic Breakdown it is intended to observe the breaking process of the Theater of the Fabulous with earlier theatrical forms of gay representation, the conflicts arising from this double subalternity, and the constant negotiations derived from belonging to two distinct subcultures that are to some extent opposed.
