El presente ensayo explora la noción de abyección en el contexto actual del capitalismo multicultural. Se argumentará que la relación entre abyección y capital vuelve problemático el status disidente de dicha noción debido a la integración constante que hace de ésta el sistema capitalista.

Este análisis se enfocará en un particular mecanismo cultural de asimilación: el cine. Para ello se discutirá el concepto tomando como bases los planteamientos de Judith Butler en su obra Cuerpos que importan. Sobre los límites materiales y discursivos del “sexo” referidos a películas, corrientes cinematográficas y figuras del espectáculo.

Abstract

The present essay explores the notion of abjection in the contemporary context of multicultural capitalism. The text will be based on the relation between abjection and capital and how this relation makes problematic the dissident status of abjection by its constant capitalist assimilation. This analysis will focus in a particular cultural mechanism: cinema. For that purpose the notion of abjection will be discussed in the terms of Judith Butler, particularly her book Bodies that Matter. On the Discursive Limits of “Sex” related to films, cinematographic movements and show stars.
