En este ensayo se reflexiona sobre cómo han sido utilizadas las categorías de “elite”, “oligarquía” y “clase hegemónica” en la historiografía mendocina. Nuestro interés es poder determinar si el empleo de estas nociones se realiza a priori sobre el objeto de estudio o si por el contrario si desde el propio objeto se construyen nuevas variables socioculturales que permiten su definición, lo que indicaría una aplicación correcta de estas categorías. De este modo, nuestro objetivo final es poder seleccionar cuál de estas nociones debe ser aplicada a las investigaciones que llevamos a cabo sobre las prácticas y representaciones de la muerte en un arco temporal extendido entre fines del siglo XIX y principios del XX.

 

Abstract

This work reflects on how the "elite", "oligarchy" and "hegemonic class"  are categories which have been used in Mendoza historiography. Our interest is to be able to determine if the employment of these notions is done “a priori” on the object of study, or on the contrary, if from the object itself new sociocultural variables ae built that allow its definition, which would indicate a correct application of these categories. In this way, our final objective is to be able to select which of these notions should be applied to our research on the practices and representations of death in a temporary arch extended between the late XIX and early.
