En este ensayo se analizan las fugas que emprendió Elena Garro a lo largo de su periplo existencial. La escritora confrontó al sistema político mexicano dirigido por el Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) en los años 50 y 60. Por su activismo político y social fue desterrada de México en diferentes ocasiones. El clímax se alcanzó en el contexto de la masacre del 2 de octubre de 1968 en Tlatelolco, al ser acusada por el gabinete de Gustavo Díaz Ordaz de encabezar un complot comunista para derrocar al gobierno. Después de veinte años de vivir exiliada en Estados Unidos, España y Francia regresó a su país de origen en 1993, en donde volvió a padecer los efectos de la leyenda negra orquestada por el poder para desactivar su lucha en pro de la democracia y la justicia social. Se utilizan los postulados de Michel Foucault expuestos en su libro Vigilar y castigar... para demostrar cómo las fuerzas represivas reprimieron y silenciaron a aquellos que se rebelaron en contra del statu quo.

Abstract

This essay analyzes the escapes that Elena Garro undertook throughout her existential journey. The writer confronted the Mexican political system led by the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in the 50s and 60s. Because of her political and social activism, she was exiled from Mexico on different occasions. The climax was reached in the context of the October 2, 1968 massacre in Tlatelolco, when she was accused by the Gustavo Díaz Ordaz presidency of leading a communist plot to overthrow the government. After twenty years of living in exile in the United States, Spain and France, she returned to her country of origin in 1993, where she continued to be ostracized and signaled out by the powers that be in their attempt to defuse her struggle for democracyand social justice. The ideas presented by Michel Foucault in his book Discipline and Punish... are used to demonstrate how repressive forces suppress and silence those who rebel against the status quo.
