Resumen

Augusto Boal (1931-2009), creador del Teatro del Oprimido, siguiendo a Paulo Freire (1921-1997), ha enfatizado la figura del sujeto oprimido, alrededor del cual, como se sabe, tanto uno como otro, han puesto respectivamente las bases de una pedagogía y de una praxis teatral –pero no una didáctica— cuyo punto de convergencia es aquello que en la década del 70 se denominaba ‘liberación’. Para ellos, esa liberación se alcanzaba por medio de una metodología, educativa o teatral respectivamente, que consistía en lo que denominaban “concientización” de las condiciones de explotación capitalista del sujeto oprimido. Este ensayo intenta solo contornear estas cuestiones, particularmente cómo Freire y Boal, entre otros pensadores y artistas, abordaron la cuestión del sujeto oprimido, de las posibilidades de desalienación y liberación, en suma, de cómo se van resemantizando vocablos como libertad y revolución, liberación y emancipación.

Abstract

Augusto Boal (1931-2009), creator of the Theater of the Oppressed, following Paulo Freire (1921-1997), has emphasized the figure of the oppressed subject, around which, as is known, both have respectively laid the foundations of a pedagogy and a theatrical praxis –but not a didactics– whose point of convergence is what in the 70's was called 'liberation'. For them, this liberation was achieved through a methodology, educational or theatrical respectively, which consisted of what they called " consciousness" of the conditions of capitalist exploitation of the oppressed subject. This essay tries only to outline these questions, particularly how Freire and Boal, among other thinkers and artists, approached the question of the oppressed subject, of the possibilities of disalienation and liberation, in short, of how words such as freedom and revolution, liberation and emancipation were resemantized.
