Abstract

This article analyzes how the recent cinematographic transposition of The Odyssey (2026), directed by Christopher Nolan, reformulates the Homeric myth through the coordinates of contemporary cinema. The film reactivates the Deleuzian notion of the time-image, confronting the spectator with a pure temporal experience that tensions the fleeting nature of the digital era. In this way, by stripping the hero of his original epic matrix to imbue him with contemporary guilt and psychological complexity, the work positions itself at the frontier of critical transposition; an aesthetic operation demonstrating that every classic is inevitably updated and read through the filter of the period eye.

Keywords: transposition; Homeric poem; cinema; worldview; The Odyssey.
