Resumen

Este artículo analiza la relación existente entre la novela Los años con Laura Díaz (1999) de Carlos Fuentes con el mural “En el Arsenal” (1928) de Diego Rivera. Toda la reflexión permitió entrecruzar dos códigos estéticos: narración e imagen pictórica. Se explica la écfrasis como posibilidad de construir un relato ficcional que nace de una pintura-mural, de tal forma que toda la obra narrativa dialoga con una expresión estética visual, donde ambas se conectan y dan explicación a un mismo fenómeno social, histórico y artístico que tiene como contexto México, visto y contado desde una intrahistoria femenina, sumergida en una historia oficial que transcurre durante casi todo el siglo veinte.

Abstract

This article analyzes the relationship between the novel Los años con Laura Díaz (1999) by Carlos Fuentes with the mural "En el Arsenal" (1928) by Diego Rivera. The reflection allows for the intertwining of two aesthetic codes: narration and pictorial image. Ekphrasis is explained as a possibility for constructing a fictional narrative that originates from a mural painting, such that the entire narrative work engages in dialogue with a visual aesthetic expression. Both forms are connected and offer an explanation of the same social, historical, and artistic phenomenon set in Mexico, portrayed and narrated from a feminine intrahistory immersed within an official history that unfolds over almost the entire twentieth century.
