Resumen

El ensayo propone una cuarta estética lacaniana que se suma a las tres ya planteadas por Massimo Recalcati. El ‘ego’ como sinthome que Lacan propone al final de su Seminario 23 constituye dicha cuarta estética y no se confunde con el sinthome planteado al inicio de ese seminario, el cual apunta más a lo clínico que a lo estético. El eje del seminario, tal como lo plantea Lacan, es el arte. Este ensayo discute la lectura –en cierto modo errónea— realizada por Néstor Braunstein sobre el sinthome a propósito de James Joyce y Schreber. La aproximación al ‘ego’ como sinthome artístico permite discernir cómo arte y psicoanálisis son praxis y, a partir de ello, debatir las múltiples consecuencias teóricas que se desprenden de esta convergencia.

Abstract

This essay proposes a fourth Lacanian aesthetic, adding to the three already put forward by Massimo Recalcati. The ‘ego’ as sinthome, which Lacan proposes at the end of Seminar 23, constitutes this fourth aesthetic and should not be confused with the sinthome presented at the beginning of that seminar, which is more clinical than aesthetic in nature. The central theme of the seminar, as Lacan conceives it, is art. This essay discusses Néstor Braunstein's somewhat erroneous reading of the sinthome in relation to James Joyce and Schreber. Approaching the ‘ego’ as an artistic sinthome allows us to discern how art and psychoanalysis are praxis and, from this, to debate the multiple theoretical consequences that arise from this convergence.
