Pierre Menard and Harold Bloom under comparison
Abstract:
This article comes from the discipline entitled: "Theory of Literature II", taught by PhD. Edgar Cézar Nolasco, at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). In this context, I intend to demonstrate that Pierre Menard, fictional character of the Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges disassembles the process of influence described by literary theorist Harold Bloom in "The Anxiety of Influence" (1997). Aiming to explain the different understandings of this phenomenon in different instances of Menard. The methodology of this work is through bibliographic reviews that offer theoretical framework for the desired objective, some of the main works are: The Anxiety of Influence (Bloom, 1997) and Tradução, desconstrução e psicanálise (Arrojo, 1993). In addition, I also seek to think about the issues that gravitate around the influence regarding the indissociability between writing and reading. It is hoped that after the articulated reflections, one can have a more global understanding of the concept treated and its interlacing with the history of literature theory.
