Resumen
“Un hombre sin suerte”emplea mecanismos del miedo y la ironía. Los sucesos por los cuales transitan la niña de ocho años y el ente malsano del título colocan a la impúber en una situación alarmante. La narradora adulta y anónima recuerda encontrarse sola y sin bombacha en la sala de espera de un hospital el día de su cumpleaños. Allí se enfrenta con un individuo también anónimo quien ansía ganarse su confianza para —se asume—cometer violencia sexual. Sin embargo, los hechos irónicos en torno a tan espantosoaprieto evidencian otro propósito. Más allá de situarnos en un contexto abusivo, el relatotransparenta sus dispositivos. Mediante ellos propone que reflexionemos sobre nuestras expectativas cuando leemos anécdotas perturbadoras. Su intención satírica se reflejaenun lenguaje que crea suficiente tensión para que disfrutemos con miedo. La intención ha sido, ante todo, literaria. Un injerto entre el temor y el humor

Abstract
“An Unlucky Man” uses mechanisms of fear and irony. The events that the eight-year-old girl and the antagonistof the title go through, place the prepubescent girl in an alarming situation. The anonymous adult narrator remembers finding herself alone and without panties in the waiting room of a hospital on her birthday. There she confronts an also anonymous individual who longs to gain her trust to—it is assumed—commit sexual violence. However, the ironic facts surrounding such a frightful predicament show another purpose. Beyond placing the reader in an abusive context, the storymakes its devices transparent. Through them it proposes that we reflect on our expectations when we read distressing anecdotes. The satirical intent is reflected in language that creates enough tension for the reader to enjoy fear. The intention has been, above all, literary. A blending of fear and humor.
