Este libro, que pone en relación el teatro con el psicoanálisis freudo-lacaniano, pretende fundar una disciplina, llamada praxis teatral, la cual se enfoca en el trabajo del teatrista (actor, director y artistas creativos) durante los ensayos, esto es, improvisaciones, construcción de escena y montaje. No se preocupa por los estudios teatrales tradicionales en sentido académico, como el análisis de textos (dramáticos o espectaculares). No es una aproximación clínica al grupo teatral, sino una implementación de los conceptos fundamentales del psicoanálisis (inconsciente, transferencia, pulsión, repetición) como apoyo técnico para trabajar durante los ensayos teatrales y para replantear la relación con el público (demanda y construcción de hegemonía). La interpretación de los sueños de Freud provee las bases para homologar sueño, improvisación y teatro. Se debate, además, la cuestión pedagógica y la problemática académica derivada de este encuadre, cuestionando criterios de cientificidad y aplicabilidad.

This book, which relates the theater with Freudo-Lacanian psychoanalysis, intends to found a discipline, called theatrical praxis, which focuses in the work of the theatrist (actor, director and creative artists) during rehearsals, that is, improvisations, scene construction and mise-en-scène. The approach is not oriented to traditional theatrical studies in the way it is practiced in the academy, such as text analysis (dramatic or spectacular). It is not a clinical approach to the theater group, but an implementation of the fundamental concepts of psychoanalysis (unconscious, transference, drive, repetition) as technical support to work during the theater rehearsals and to rethink the relationship with the public (demand and construction of hegemony). The interpretation of dreams by Freud provides the basis for connecting sleep, improvisation and theater. Issues related to pedagogy with their consequences in academia are also discussed as far as they question standards of science and applicability.
