Philippe Labro is a contemporary French writer and journalist whose novels are marked by traveling experiences, particularly his trips across the United States, first as an exchange student in the 1950s, then as a professional reporter. The third trip, years later, after a very severe illness, will take him back to the Colorado forest he was “seeing” in his coma. Labro’s literary production recreates, on one side, the steps of his own personal and professional growth and maturation and, on the other side, the hero’s initiatory journey that takes him from the threshold of death to salvation.
